Product Details

1. Product Overview

The MTP/MPO to LC/APC 8-Fiber OS2 Breakout Cable (also known as a Harness or Fan-out cable) is designed for high-density fiber patching in 40G, 100G, and 400G environments. It features a high-performance MTP/MPO connector on one end and 8 premium LC/APC connectors on the other. This assembly allows for the distribution of a single multi-fiber trunk to individual active equipment ports, such as servers or storage nodes.

    Product Applications

The MTP-to-LC breakout cable is a versatile component for managing optical transitions:

    1. 40G to 10G / 100G to 25G Port Breakout

The most common application is connecting a high-speed switch port (e.g., 40G QSFP+ or 100G QSFP28) to four separate 10G or 25G SFP modules. The 8-fiber MTP connector carries 4 lanes of transmit and 4 lanes of receive, which the breakout cable splits into the 4 duplex LC pairs required by the SFP ports.

    2. High-Density Patch Panel Distribution

In structured cabling, this cable is used to connect the rear of a high-density MTP/MPO patch panel to the front LC ports. This allows for an organized "Plug-and-Play" infrastructure where high-fiber-count backbone trunks can be easily managed and distributed to individual servers.

    3. Direct Equipment Interconnect

Ideal for connecting a Spine switch (using MTP/MPO) directly to Leaf switches or NICs (using LC). This eliminates the need for extra cassettes or adapters in the link, reducing the total insertion loss of the optical path.

    4. Telecommunications & FTTX

The use of APC (Angled Physical Contact) on both the MTP and LC ends makes this cable perfect for applications sensitive to back-reflection, such as:

    • GPON/EPON distribution.

    • CATV and high-bit-rate digital video transmission.

    • DWDM systems.

    5. Data Center Storage (SAN)

Used in Storage Area Networks to connect high-speed director-class switches to individual storage arrays. The 8-fiber OS2 breakout provides the low-latency, high-bandwidth path necessary for mission-critical data storage and retrieval. High-performance MPO to LC/APC breakout cable for 100G-to-25G transitions. Features Low Loss OS2 fiber, APC polish for high return loss, and LSZH jacket. MPO to LC APC breakout, 8-fiber harness cable, 100G to 4x25G split, MTP fanout cable single mode, OS2 breakout cable, LC/APC fiber patch cord.
